Our club is committed to raising funds that we give back to our community through scholarships, grants, and dedicated project funding. Our organization meets weekly with fun and fellowship. We organize community events and participate in civic traditions.
By The Numbers....
Since 1999, through our Grants & Scholarships Program, the Whittier Lions have distributed over $2.08 million back to the greater Whittier community.
The Whittier Host Lions Club has been serving the greater Whittier community since 1922.
The Whittier Host Lions Club is a group of all ages, heritages, and walks of life dedicated to serving those in need throughout the greater Whittier Community.
Our Sight for Kids Etc. event raised over $320,000 from 2020 - 2024. This, our largest annual fundraiser supports our Grants & Scholarship programs.
From 2020 - 2024, over $240,000 in academic and vocational awards were given to high school students in recognition of their outstanding achievements. Additional grants and assistance in the form of major projects and service committee grants exceeded $306,000 for the Whittier area. In total over $550,000 was given back to the community.
From 2020 – 2024, our annual Sight Fair, which provided free eye examinations and glasses if required provided over 1,000 families in the Whittier area community.
Youth Chair @chrisvigilre and President George Geokaris host Nolan Carter of the Whittier Shakes Theater Co. 📣
Nolan is a Whittier native whose father is a long time teacher at La Serna high school. Upon returning from college, Nolan and his wife Olivia started a Theater Company here in Whittier.
In its 3rd year of production the Whittier Shakes Theater Company has entertained a few thousand residents at Palm Park with the Shakespeare plays 🎬
Coming this August their 3rd production will be of
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
William Shakespeare 🎭
August 13-15, 2026 | Palm Park, Whittier.
Whittier Host Lions Club is happy to support this great group for bringing the Arts to Whittier. This event is free to anyone who wants to bring a blanket, snacks and be entertained.
Local youth will be members of the production.

Whittier Host Lions Vice President and Yourh Committee Chair Chris Vigil was out and about last week at East Whittier Middle School to present a $4000 check to Deborah Carnahan and her music program.
Mrs. Carnahan has been the music teacher at EWMS for many years and without a doubt, has made the biggest impact on our Whittier Youth.
For the role she plays in these young’s kids lives and her continued contributions to the community, Mrs, Carnahans music program was awarded a $4000 Grant for the 2026 School Year.

Whittier Host Lion’s were invited to serve Coffee to participants at Shelter’s Right Hand 30th Annual 5K Walk, which started at Whittier Central Park.
Lion’s arrived at 530am and greeted Ivan, representing L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn’s office.

Mayor Joe Vinatieri was onsite last month to present a check on behalf of the Whittier Host Lions club to L.A. County Fire Department Station 17 - Whittier on Greenleaf.
Joining Joe was Past President Paul White of White Emerson Mortuary and Civic Affairs Chairman Ray Perez.
Their patio was in need of serious repair and your Whittier Host Lions stepped up to the plate and hit a home run.

Our Fearless President George Geokaros represents the Whittier Host Lion’s Table at the Whittier Museum Founder’s Day event, held at Central Park.
The Lions handed out over 175+ Sight Flyers to interested community members, inviting them to attend and spread the word of our upcoming June 20th Free Sight Fair event.
We received many Thanks from people about the Lion’s contributions made around the Whittier community.
Lion Brendan O’Reilly joined Ray Perez manning our Lion’s booth all day.

Our Impact
During our 100 year history, the key to our longevity and success has been combining our service mission with clever and sometimes outrageous fun. Both sustain us and fuel our continued growth and efforts in the community. Our weekly meetings are conducted in that spirit and the laughter and camaraderie are contagious. Fun and fellowship also accompany our fundraising events and social gatherings.
